Occlusion of carotid artery

•       Deep breathing and air hunger within 30 seconds (barroreceptor response? Chemo receptor response? Both CN 9&10) note 1

• ·         Panic? (Possibly subjective or could be a neurological sympathetic response? Worth looking into)

• ·         Eyes begin to lose focus then black out (lack of perfusion to eyes? Or is it to brain?)

• ·         Lips begin to tingle as well as face (lack of perfusion to face) color change? (eyes blacked out so could not obtain info)

• ·         Chest begins to feel heavy ( see first note)

• ·         Ears flush (return of blood)
• ·         Vision returns
• ·         Confusion and forgetfulness (follow up for long term damage) (if so cease experiment)
• Long term effects- Unknown

1.        Think of an experiment to be able to differentiate between the effects of both

a.       Compare hypoventilation symptoms and postural hypotension symptoms

                                                               i.      Results of such seem to be more consistent with postural hypotension suggesting it is a barroreceptor response not a chemoreceptor response
